RE: Drop-off and Collection Routines
Dear Parent / Guardian, Staff Member,
The BoM and the School Leadership Team have been working to ensure a safe return to school for all pupils and staff next week. We have now finalised our plans for drop-off and collection of the children every day.
St. Patrick’s N.S. appreciates your support as we try to safely reopen the school building. If at all possible we request you not to come onto the school yard or into the school building unless it is essential.
Drop off
Drop off will be staggered in the morning, with specific time slots allocated to all families and pupils who travel on the school bus. Please see your drop off slot listed below. Please drop your child off at the Bus Stop and avoid lingering as this could impact on other parents waiting to drop their child/ren. A teacher will be there to greet them and direct them to their classroom.
If, for any reason you are late arriving, please park outside the school by the wall and wait until the last slot has cleared and then approach the Bus Stop to let your child/ren off. Working together we hope to be able to progress the reopening in as safe a manner as possible for all.
For our new Junior Infants, we are requesting that they arrive at 10 am on their first morning and their allocated time slots on all morning after that. Their class teacher Rosie Ambrose will meet them at the Bus Stop and bring them in together.
Collection
Due to the various times that class groups finish, the collection time rota is slightly different.
The Junior Infants will finish at 12 noon for the first fortnight. Miss Ambrose will accompany the children to the gate at the upper yard and release them one by one to their parents. Please be vigilant about the need to social distance in this area. Two meter markings will be in place and a line from which you may collect your child.
Thereafter finishing time will be at 1.50pm and pupils can be collected from the Bus Stop to their parents awaiting car. Please queue for a space to collect, while being careful not to cause congestion on the road outside the school. We would request that you pull in across the road, while waiting for access to the school. Again, if you have missed your time slot, please park outside the school by the wall and wait until there is a pause.
Please see your collection slot below.
We would ask all parents to familiarise themselves with the following drop-off and collection routines for the safe delivery and collection of pupils from school. Please be patient as we endeavour to embed these necessary precautionary and protective practices at the beginning of the school year. These arrangements are new to everyone and may need to be adjusted as we implement them. Your patience is greatly appreciated as we try to keep everyone safe.
It is imperative that
- adults do not come within 2 metres of each other or linger on the school grounds unnecessarily.
- parents do not try to have meetings with members of staff in the playground at drop-off and collection times – meetings between parents and teachers can only take place by prior arrangement. (This may have to be more restrictive depending on guidance – it is quite possible that the recommendation will be for remote meetings/telephone communications.)
- all parents adhere to the drop-off and collection slots as outlined below
